To try and help just a little bit, we at Library Services have put together some downloadable resources which include recommended Revision Techniques, tried and tested Exam Strategies, and even some revision games that might help if you are working with "Study Buddies" to prepare for a particular subject.
But here are some more interesting ways of revising...:
Check out these links there to more innovative, online ways of preparing for exams...:
- Studyblue lets you create digital flashcards which you can access online (including on your Smartphone or tablet), and tests you on their contents too.
- Word Mosiac makers, like Wordle and Tagxedo, enable you turn key terms into Word Clouds - great if you are a visual learner
- Create a digital Bulletin Board for a topic using Popplet. These can be turned into mindmaps, mood-boards and flowcharts, or else left as dis-organised as you like.
- Use Dipity (or, for more advanced designs, Capzles) to devise an interactive Timeline - a really effective way of charting not just a person's life but also the development of a concept or the plot of a piece of literature
And don't forget, the library has revision books for most subject areas in stock (check the Library Catalogue for details), and is open every weekday if you need somewhere to work. We have quiet areas (upstairs or in the HE Study Room at Main Library) and group-study spaces, and are open into the evening from Monday to Thursday.
