Making the Web Work for You 2 - IFTTT

Would it be useful to you to automatically get an email everytime your favourite website posted an update about a subject you are researching?

...Or to automatically get sent a txt if rain were forecast?
...Or to automatically have your email attachments backed-up on Dropbox?
...Or to automatically update your Facebook picture whenever you change your Twitter avatar?
...Or to automatically calendar Tweets?
...Or to automatically get an alert whenever you are mentioned online?

Here's an online service that can do all of this and much much more!

IFTTT stands for IF This THEN That, and the full title sort of explains how the system works - you set up procedures so that IF a "Trigger" event happens (eg if I tweet on Twitter) THEN an "Action" happens automatically (eg then a status message is created on Facebook).

This is a brilliant application, that not only allows you to calendar events, it also gets Social Media to work together without you having to lift a finger. Here are some more ideas of what you can do (the website calls these "Recipes").

Quite simply this could change the very way that you work online!
